Even though the main cause of your adult acne pimple has to do with hormonal imbalance, your lifestyle can also affect the intensity of your breakout. The way you live affects your body and this includes your skin which is the largest organ in your body. Your work environment, the hours you spend sleeping, the way you relax – all of these factors can affect your skin, especially if you are prone to acne. Here are some everyday adult acne triggers that you might not really be conscious of and how you can avoid then from affecting your breakouts.
Work environment : Your work environment also plays a part in your acne pimple breakouts. The outer part (surface) of your skin is constantly in contact with your environment, this is why you should be pay attention to the things that you come in contact with everyday. Your work environment might be exposing you to some pore-clogging substances without you even knowing. Although these substances are not the main cause of your adult acne, they can aggravate it. If you work in a fast-food restaurant, then it is likely that the airborne grease can settle on your skin. This grease can clog your pores. Another example is in factories where the hot environment heats industrial oils which can settle on your skin.
How much sleep do you get? Sleep is something that affects your skin. Scientists have agreed that a good night sleep of at least 8 hours is good for your skin. You might wonder how? Well a healthy and rested body is more capable of building a strong immune system than an unhealthy body. Although the strength of your immune system would not prevent acne pimple from occurring, it would help combat infections so your lesions can clear up faster. Just like night time sleep, uninterrupted sleep in the day time is also good for your body. So if you work at nights sleep late and get no less than 8 hours uninterrupted sleep.
Exposure to Sunlight: Yes it’s true that little amount of sunlight might slightly improve your acne, but don’t get excited already, the benefits are not permanent. Sun bathing consistently would dry your skin and cause your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum (oil). And when you expose your skin to the sun frequently, your skin begins to shed old cells more. The extra oil and extra dead cells would end up blocking your pores and this would lead to more adult acne pimple breakouts. So if you must be under the sun consistently then it is very important that you protect your skin with sunscreen. Only go for oil-free products that have at least an SPF 15 protection level from UVB and UVA rays.
How stressed are you? I am sure you must have heard this before “stress affects the condition of your skin”. Stress is something we all face and it usually tells on your body, your skin inclusive.
Now how can stress and emotional anxiety reflect on your skin? The moment you become tense, your adrenal glands swing into action by releasing the hormone cortisol into your blood stream. This hormone causes the sebaceous glands in your face to produce more oil. When this oil mixes with dead skin cells and clogs your pores, bacteria is trapped inside. This results in more acne pimple breakouts on your skin.
Since you know about these triggers, you might be wondering how you can avoid them from causing more acne pimple breakouts on your skin. You can start by ensuring you always eat a balanced diet and have at least 8 hours of sleep every night. This would help combat stress. When you are well rested and well fed, you would be less likely to feel stressed up during the day. Also ensure you get some amounts of exercise every day, even if it is just a walk around the block. Try creating more time to relax, you could take a soothing bath, practice yoga, read a book or do whatever it is that makes you feel calm.
Asides these you should also use an acne treatment that would fight your adult acne pimple at its roots by balancing your hormones and also on the surface of your skin by preventing acne causing bacteria from doing their dirty work! This is the best way to get rid of adult acne from your skin.
